Its smart-pathing system allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective, although it can get stuck on rug tassels.
In our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts on medium-pile carpet. It was a little less effective on shag carpet, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a bit slower on flooring that was not fully covered, but it recovered speed and did better than other robots we test.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications.
